Get your Horns Ready

These adorable party pics from Design*Sponge have me all excited for New Year's Eve! A group of oh-so talented peeps put their heads together and created this fun-filled photo shoot! They did a fabulous job of covering the essentials I believe every New Year's Eve party should require: champagne, confetti, party hats, horns, glitter, and cake!

Back at it

Please accept my dearest apologies for my absence. I did not think I was going to be away for that long. I had a lovely Christmas! So great being back home with the fam! I think this Christmas morning may have exceeded all the rest. Abby Smith's sticky buns, mimosas, flower arranging, what more could I have asked for. Mom of course outdid herself once again (as to be expected); the house looked beautiful and very christmasy, just the way I like it! I hope you all had the happiest of holidays! So excited to be back at it!

Home for the Holidays!

A few years back our house was chosen to be featured in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine. Unfortunately, I was in college and was unable to come home for the shoot. This is one thing I will forever be sad I missed. The crew came early in the morning and spent the entire day turning our sweet little house into a winter wonderland, filling it with fresh greens, presents, and holiday cheer. Even though our house will not look quite like this for Christmas, I cannot wait to be home for the holidays!

See more of the pictures from the shoot here!

Glitter Everywhere

For some time now I have seen the two cutie pies from ban.do make their way from blog to blog and I've always greatly admired their creative spunk, but it wasn't until two nights ago my love grew deep. While browsing through the Girls With Glasses videos I came upon their interview with Jamie & Jen of ban.do. These two glittery gals had me swooning! From their pom pom shoe clips to their glam flower headbands these two have created a small empire. Their funkay, sparkly, beautiful taste has caught on and now they've got me hooked! Check out their adorable blog here and if you are still adding things to your list, lookie here!

Winter Wardrobe

By this point I'm assuming you all know I'm a dreamer and if not I'll give you a day or two. Lately I have been dreaming of my perfect Christmas shopping outfit. I have finally put all the pieces together to pull off a warm and comfortable, chic, Bohemian look. Unfortunately to pull this off I will need close to $850, which would wipe me clear of all of my Christmas savings and dip into my next months rent and loan payment. I guess this means I better suck it up and stick with the clothes that are already in my closet. But a girl can dream can't she?

Fix It

Lynn, thanks for sharing this beautiful story with me!

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress; lawn mower in his hand, and dish-towel in hers. It was the time for fixing things. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there would always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away... never to return. So... While we have it... it's best we love it... And care for it... And fix it when it's broken... And heal it when it's sick.

This is true... For marriage... And old cars... And children with bad report cards... Dogs and cats with bad hips... And aging parents... And grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it.

Some things we keep. Like a best friend who moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special... And so, we keep them close in heart and spirit.

Thanks Lynn

31 Days of Flowers

Came across this calendar I made a few years back at the Buckets. December is always a lovely month at the flower shop. Weddings have ceased, holiday festivities have begun, the store smells of greens, bulbs are bloomin, and people are a cheerin'!

It has just hit me... I have been away from flowers for far too long. I have been dreading this day since the moment I walked out the door. Positive thoughts. Christmas vacation is a comin'! December, please don't go, I must catch you if I can.

Happy Birthday El Bell!

To my El Bell whom I love more than she will ever know! Happy Birthday my little lady! I hope you have the best birthday ever and may all your wishes come true! I can't believe the young lady you have become. Your strength and compassion are truly admirable! Keep on smiling Bell, I love you!

The Weather Outside is Frightful...

But the snow is so delightful! This weekend the snow has not stopped. Tt is such a pretty snow! I have spent the entire weekend lounging around, trying to avoid the slippery streets. I'm starting to believe Indianapolis does not own any snow plows. The few times I was out driving I saw tons of little kids out playing in the snow. I don't care if you are two or 52, no one is too old to play in the snow. My little sister, Liz, took this picture last year when she and all her friends went sledding. All of those little black dots are people sledding down Art Hill in Forest Park. How I wish there were snow days in the work force. I'm going to keep dreaming, but for now here are a few great posts!

Canned Champagne!

Enough said! Well, not really. Everytime I am out with J.B.'s sister, Lily, she has the cutest little can in her hand. What is inside of it is even better, CHAMPAGNE! Living in New Orleans, I guess you are one step ahead when it comes to drinking Lil! Congrats!

Gawking

Swooning over the prop styling of these gift guides by Madewell and J.Crew! Where the hell do they come up with this stuff?! It is out of control and I love it! If only I could wake up one morning and say, oh hey I got a great idea, let's frame a bra and nail shoes on the wall! Maybe one day!

Bobby Pins

If anyone knows me well they would have to assume I naturally freaked out when I found this little doodle! Where would I be without a bobby?

The Flower Drum

A few weeks ago on Design Sponge I ran into two little ladies with flowers in their hair! I immediately fell in love! Holly is a flower enthusiast and head honcho of The Flower Drum! Her thick clear-framed glasses and her witty ways have me hooked! Mylee is her flowerdrum associate who loves flowers just as much and also plays guitar in a band! These two adorable Aussies have been officially added to my list of girl crushes!

Happy Weekend!

The first snow of the season has come and I am taking complete advantage! I have spent the entire day on the couch watching movie, tv show, movie, documentary, movie. Looking outside often, making sure the snow has not melted away. I hope you all enjoy the weekend and whatever it is you may be doing! Here are some great posts I have rounded up, enjoy!

10 Thoughts on Change

Intrigue - Life is at its most intriguing and mysterious when it's in flux.
Gesture - Change doesn't happen with a single action, but with a series of small gestures.
Path - Making real, lasting change is like plowing a path. The more you use it, the easier it gets.
Evolution - Admit to yourself what you don't know, and you begin to evolve.
Step - It's never too late to take the first step toward your aspirations.
Transition - Each transition is an opportunity to look at who you are and where you're headed.
Unknown - Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back from making a change.
Trying - Learn something new. Emphasize the trying, not the succeeding.
Desire - The desire for change shows up in your body as well as your thoughts. Pay attention to it.
Opportunity - Consider today the opportunity of a lifetime. Start fresh.

There has been a lot of change and transition going on in my life lately so these 10 thoughts will soon be put to use.

Got Milk?

Well if so, make mine chocolate. I do not know what it is, but I cannot get enough chocolate milk lately. I am craving it 24/7. If I had it my way I would drink it straight out of these glass jars. Love the packaging. Gulp! Gulp!
