Happy Summer!

I guess a week and a few days "vacation" did the mind good. I was able to focus on all the meaningful things in my life, but I have become needy of inspiration. I will be working hard to balance my time between blogs, twitter and all other addictions (must not overindulge) with work, sleep, friends, family, and life. Wish me luck!

P.S. Happy Summer!

Thoughts

Sarah over at Saipua is 100% of the time, DEAD ON! Not only with her jaw-dropping floral designs, but with just about every thought she mentally creates. If there was no such thing as being creepy, I would (without a doubt) comment on every single one of her posts, letting her know I am in complete agreement. I have pulled myself together and refrained. However, her most recent post has me wanting to jump on the next flight out to Brooklyn to greet Sarah with a hug and let her know she stole the thoughts right out of my head.

"I've been avoiding the computer and the internet a lot lately. Quit my facebook. Thinking of quitting twitter too... it sucks my time and I'd rather just look out the window than know who's boinking who (metaphorically) in the blog-o-sphere. but it's weird how addictive that shit is... how you check those things 40 times a day to find out what's happening (nothing) just a lot of borrowed images tumbling around."

Couldn't have said it better myself.

How can I stop my blog and twitter addiction? Enough is enough. It depresses me to think how much time I spend looking at tweets that mean nothing to me, but that for some reason I feel obliged to read. Or how about archiving years back on a newly discovered blog. What the hell is my deal? My cluttered mind is in need of a serious vacation. I need to clear my head of all things that will not matter tomorrow.

What's a Girl To Do

My birthday is around the corner and I hate to admit it, but presents are on the mind. As my age has increased, the amount of "wants" on my birthday list has decreased. When I was younger it was apparent quantity overruled quality (you should see the amount of baby dolls in the basement closet at my parents. absolutely ridiculous). So along with maturity comes wishing for less crap and just a few timeless treasures.

At the top of my list this year, as I turn 25 (holy shit), is a new purse. But here lies a decision I have to make. Two completely different purses. Different looks, material, color, style, and straps. What's a girl to do? Which one should I pick? The J.Crew pecan leather Edie purse or the Kaufmann-Mercantile olive green Duluth pack canvas backpack? HELP!

Summer Siestas

This colorful 100% cotton, hand woven, queen size Mexican Suzani bedspread is the missing element to my summer siestas. Currently sold out and wearing a price tag of $489, looks like the closest I'll get to this lovely piece is by hitting the zoom button on my computer until it can't zoom any more. Sad to think my summer dreams will no longer be in color.

Sucker

My great idea of reading before bed has once again turned into hours upon end in the land of blogs. I typically get upset with myself for choosing blogs over books, but tonight I applaud myself. Tonight I came across 770 Behind the Line, J.Crews (un)official blog. WOW! I successfully studied the tumblr in its entirety. Although not many archives to dig through, I mastered and possibly memorized every detail. Congratulations J.Crew, you've sucked me in, yet again!

Monday Manners

Ever wonder what Kate thinks? I sure do and that's why I religiously reread her charming yet quirky book, Manners. I suggest you should do the same. I can't think of anything more unattractive than bad manners (okay I lied, white tennis shoes may be worse).

"Some Timeless Advice on Making Conversation"

Good conversation is all about the give and take - Excel at each.

Think before you speak - What's said can't be taken back.

When talking about your children, easy does it - Touting your child's skills or appearance can be offputting to your listener. The same holds true for pets.

The weather - Uniquely boring.

Boasting is boring too.*

Don't worry about being clever - Be genuine, be yourself.

*My number one pet peeve, don't even think about it when you are in my presence.
