Overwhelming

Feeling a little bit overwhelmed this Monday Tuesday after a long and relaxing weekend. Lots to conquer in very little time. Positive and realistic thoughts will be key as I journey through this short and busy week.

P.S. Keep my left hand in your thoughts. It is beginning to feel the effects of typing on a computer/iPhone all day, every day. It deserves some time off so don't expect anything crazy over here this week. Maybe your hands deserve a break as well? Tah-tah for now!

Night Cap

You better believe that over any other drink on the shelf, my preferred night cap, is and always will be Seinfeld, straight up. And keep 'em comin'.

Ticked

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I have been busy searching for the perfect summer suit. If I knew how difficult this task was going to be, I would have never begun the search. But I can't stop now, I don't want to show up at the pool this summer with no suit. I am a very picky person when it comes to clothes. I know what I like, which often times seems to hurt more than help. It really chaps my ass how many stores sell their suits solely online or through their catalog. Why the hell heck don't they buck up and stock their stores? It would save me from a long and dreadful process, which goes a little like this.

One new e-mail, From: J.Crew. Subject: ENDS TODAY. 20% OFF & FREE SHIPPING on women's & kids' swim. Online only. I stop in my tracks. Too good to be true? Who knows, but I dive right in. After much contemplation and overanalyzing, I make an unconfident selection from an overwhelming collection of tops and bottoms. Next I fill out seven pages of shipping and billing information. Then I anxiously await for what feels like months for the small package to arrive. The day comes when I get home from work and there it lies. Wrapped tight as ever, requiring scissors or a knife to tear open the damn thing. I nervously pull out the goodies, hoping for the best. Make the quick switch, off with the old, on with the new. To the mirror I run and there I stand. I know immediately it's not right. The top does nothing for me. The bottoms are better than expected, but nope. It's not the perfect summer suit I was looking for. Pissed. Ticked. Trying to determine what is worse? The fucking freaking returning process or the fact that I have to continue my gosh damn darn search.
Sorry for the rant. Morale of the story: Online shopping is a bitch. There I said it. If you have any recommendations, bring 'em on!

Happy Friday

Oh happy day! It's Friday, it's sunny, and the peonies are in full bloom! I couldn't ask for much more! Except maybe one of my besties to come in town this weekend and oh wait that is happening. I am one lucky girl. Looks like good lie ahead. Wishing you all the happiest of Fridays!

Can't Live Without

Breakfast is one meal I cannot live without. I have always been a breakfast eater. I can blame breakfast for much of my tardiness. Nothing to brag about, but breakfast I cannot live without.

I have always loved lattes, but never been a coffee fan. Always loved eggs, but never over easy. Fortunately, two things have changed since I've moved and joined what folks like to call "the real world." I now cannot start a work day without a large coffee and every time I order my eggs/decide to cook, you better believe they're over easy!

If you are not a fan of breakfast 1) you should be, most important meal of the day. 2) do yourself a favor and wander on over to simply breakfast and I promise you'll never skip another early morning meal!

Simply Sweden

I love the simplicity of this Sweden home. Its furnishings provide a very warm and welcoming feeling! And this quote of the homeowner about doing absolutely nothing is something I'm really trying to put into effect!

A True Gem

I have never been one to adorn myself in jewels. When it comes to jewelry I am about as boring as they come. One simple silver ring, a pink rubber bracelet in memory of my aunt, my good ole' Timex, and occasionally my turquoise teardrop earrings. But do not let my naked limbs fool you. I love jewels, but usually opt for a fresh new T or another pair of unneeded shoes. But turquoise, that beautiful medley of blue and green and sometimes gold, I lust for this ornate gem, any glance I get. When browsing through Anthropologie the other day I came across this uhhh-maaa-zinnggg-ly organic ring. Turquoise it is and turquoise I must have! It's about time I add a little color to my fingers!

Correct & Conceal

For the past few months I have been on a mad hunt for some magical remedy to help hide my dark circles and bags that make an appearance far too often and never seem to disappear. I am beginning to wonder if these ugly and unwanted flaws come along with being in the real world for now two years. If so, I am horrified to see what year three will bring.

Anywho, after many failed attempts at Sephora I gave up (secretly hoping my bags and circles would disappear). Unfortunately, they remained. Right in the nick of time one of my besties came to visit and brought with her the solution to my big, dark problems (just like she always does)! Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer.

Was I an idiot? Why did I not try Bobbi in the first place. I don't have tons of makeup, but that of which I do is Bobbi Brown! She has never failed me. I am a true Bobbi fan. Lesson learned never to turn my "cheek" on Bobbi (except for my new Stila for j.crew blush).

My new Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer has not only made my flaws disappear, it has changed my life forever!!!!

Yes Please

Here is my new summer wish list from EmersonMade. She does it so right it just kills me. Simplicity at its best! Goldfish blouse, LowRiders jeans, and 1960's navy blazer, yes please!

I'm a Murderer

The only downfall of working at my mama's flower shop (bloomin' buckets) is that I have become an absolute flower snob. And when I say snob, I mean snob. Do not even get me started on carnations or mums.... don't even go there.

Another downfall of my past employment is on those far and rare occasions when the boy is required to get me something special, he knows flowers are out of the picture. However, a few Mondays back the little mister surprised me with a beautiful orchid plant. Although a flower snob, I am very open-minded when it comes to plants and an orchid, oh joy! Well-known for their beauty, orchids are also known for being very low maintenance. Not much care taking required, a little sun and a bit of water here and there... Welp, not enough lovin' from me, nope. Leave it to me to kill the poor beauty.

I hope and pray this occurrence does not foreshadow my parenting skills. PLEASE NO. I would rather receive a bouquet of baby's breath.

A Bike About Town

Kate, next time you need a star for one of your films, just let me know. I would be happy to help! I am veryyy good at living in a fantasy world!

Long & "Flowy"

I am on the hunt for a long "flowy" skirt to wear this summer. Any suggestions? I found one at Anthropologie, but it's a little out of my budget right now. How lovely is the white one above? This chick pulls it off quite nicely and pairs it perfectly. I would never think to wear my long skirt with boots, but she has changed my mind for the better. Thanks stranger!

The National, Arcade Fire, & Funnel Cakes

Last week I was lucky enough to attend The National and Arcade Fire concert. I have actually seen both of these bands before (The National twice and Arcade Fire once), but put the two together and you can imagine the incredible show they put on! Exceeded my expectations by far! And to make things even better there were funnel cakes!

P.S. We made it on the jumbotron during Arcade Fire's performance! Too bad I missed it.

Life or Death

If I were in a life or death situation and was asked to select my top five looks from the 2011 Met Gala, this would be it. After careful thought and consideration I landed on these five. Elegantly extravagant seemed to be the running theme of the night!

P.S. Renee Zellweger has me very motivated to focus all forthcoming workouts on my back. Damn Bridget Jones, you have made quite the comeback!

Quirky

This flamingo tote just took over the #1 spot on my wish list. Enough with the quirkiness Kate... you're killing me over here.

What a Weekend!

Last night of work at the restaurant, sleeping in, 10 mile run, babysitting, another morning of sleeping in, Orchard in Bloom (ranunculus, peonies, dahlias, & kettle korn), topped off with a large slice of coconut cake for Miss Mary Moore's 11th birthday. Oh and bye bye to Osama bin Laden. To say the least I had a wonderful weekend, hope you did too!
