If All Else Fails

It would be safe to say the highlight of my New Year's Eve was the limbo contest. I have absolutely no clue how this started, but I'm so happy it did. All thanks to someone picking up JB's light saber and thinking, "Ah ha, this would make a great limbo stick!" Being 5'8 and wearing 3" heels I didn't think I had a chance, but boy was I wrong. Needless to say, I was the limbo champion that night! I never knew I had it in me, but so happy to know that if all else fails, I've got the limbo!

Short Shorts

Short season can't come soon enough! I am loving these short "dirty dewalt yellow" virgina shorts by Wintercheck Factory. Thanks Lox Papers for introducing me to this jazzy little shop! Obsessed!

A $3.00 Masterpiece

This past summer I was driving down my street, heading to work when I saw the cutest little blondie/blue eye boy you could ever imagine! He was at the end of his driveway holding a little sign above his head. That was it, I once again was going to be late for work, but I didn't care, I had to stop. When I looked out my window I saw no cups... no lemonade... no pitcher of any liquid... What could this little dumpling be selling? Perplexed I immediately inquire,

"Sugar plum, what is it you are selling?"
"Pictures."
"What kind of pictures do you have?"

He proudly walked over to his mailbox, pulled out a folder, and walked back over to show me his work. He had about 12 pieces of 8.5 x 11 white computer paper, each penciled with a flower, doodle, or stick figure and a large price written largely at the top. My heart melted. I sat there for about five minutes badgering the miniature pumpkin with questions. He stood there responding with one word answers, praying his responsiveness would lead to a big sale. I looked through his pile once again, found the most expensive piece of merchandise, and shook his hand!

I still look back at the sale I made with that little puddin' and smile! To me, that $3.00 piece of artwork is worth all the money in the world!

A String of Marigolds...

My mama's got something up her sleeve again. I swear every time I turn around she has thought of something even more brilliant. This photo is a sneak peek of what's to come. I am going to be helping her with this project so this post is as a little reminder to myself to get my ass in gear!

Putting the Green Back in my Clutch

I started this blog to act as a creative outlet for myself. A place where I could let out all my creative juices. A little clutch I could fill with all things inspiring. I threw the "GREEN" in there with the intent of adding blurbs every here and there about how we can all lower our carbon foot print and become more environmentally aware. However, I got a little carried away with the whole inspiration thing and completely neglected the "GREEN" aspect. One of my hopes for this year is to put the green back in my clutch and share with you all simple actions we can perform in order to become more environmentally friendly.

Here is the first green tip of the year:

"A TV that's plugged in is still using half the electricity of a TV that's turned on. Most appliances-VCRs, DVD players, televisions, stereos, computers, and kitchen appliances-use power even when they are switched off.

For the average home, 75 percent of the electricity used to power home appliances is used while the products are not in use and turned off.

It's still costing you money and wasting energy.

Do the planet, and yourself, some good by unplugging appliances or using a power strip with a switch to shut off the flow of electricity."

Boast

Partners & Spade is a company I have been long admiring. Partners, Andy Spade and Anthony Sperduti bumped heads in 2008 in hopes of executing a variety of creative interests. These two geniuses specialize in brand strategy, film production, books, and marketing. Partners and Spade's client list is truly ideal, working with some of my all-time favorites, such as J.Crew, Kate Spade, and Boast. Partners & Spade so kindly introduced me to the wonderful Greenwich, CT tennis gear and sportswear company, Boast. But what really made me fall hard for Boast is the ever-so-creative brand photography produced by Partners & Spade. They do an incredible job selling the brand throughout these quirky photographs. Good work Partners, you sold me!
